Bee products from Forever

How Forever works with bees

What Forever itself says about where its bee products come from.

  1. Honey from the mountains

Forever Bee Honey is harvested in the high mountains of Spain, without artificial colourings, flavourings or fragrances.

  2. Collected at the hive

Bee pollen is collected in a special collection system at the entrance of the hive. When a bee flies in, the pollen grains fall from her legs into the collection tray.

  3. Pesticide-free and strictly controlled

Forever Royal Jelly comes from pesticide-free areas and is subject to the strictest quality controls.

Fun facts about bees

Bees and our food

A large part of your plate is the work of bees

About three quarters of the crops that provide fruit or seeds for our food depend at least partly on pollinators, bees among them.

Think of apples, pears, cherries, strawberries and courgettes: without pollination there is less fruit. Cereals such as wheat, rice and maize do not need bees; they are pollinated by the wind.

A varied plate with fruit and vegetables therefore owes a lot to bees. A flowering garden or balcony box gives them a helping hand.

To be honest

Bee products and health

We promise nothing about your health on this page, and that is deliberate. In Europe, a food may only carry a health claim once that claim has been authorised at European level, after an assessment by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

For honey, propolis and royal jelly there is no authorised health claim. For bee pollen, three claims are still awaiting European authorisation; they are shown above, with an asterisk.

Bee products do not prevent, reduce or cure diseases, infections, conditions, allergies or physical complaints.

Honey is mostly sugar. According to the Netherlands Nutrition Centre (Voedingscentrum), honey is not healthier than ordinary sugar. Enjoy it for the taste, in moderation.

When it is not for you

Bee products are not for everyone. We would rather tell you this up front.

  • Allergic to bee products or propolis? Then do not use Bee Propolis or Aloe Propolis Crème.
  • Do you have an allergy to bee products, asthma or hay fever? Talk to your doctor first before using Royal Jelly or Bee Pollen.
  • Honey is not suitable for children under 1 year.
  • Bee Propolis contains soy and almonds.
  • Royal Jelly contains the sweetener sorbitol. Too much of it can have a laxative effect.
  • Do not take more than the recommended daily dose, and do not use a jar if the seal under the cap is broken or missing.
  • Sensitive to fragrance? Test the cream on a small patch of skin first. Do not use in the eyes or on damaged skin.

A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What people ask us most often

What is the difference between pollen, royal jelly and propolis?

Bee pollen consists of small pellets of pollen and nectar that bees use to feed the young inhabitants of the hive. Royal jelly is the milky substance young worker bees make to feed the queen. Propolis is mostly resin, which bees use to seal the gaps in their hive.

Which of these products are food supplements?

Forever Bee Pollen, Forever Royal Jelly and Forever Bee Propolis are food supplements in tablet form. Forever Bee Honey is simply honey, for bread or tea. Aloe Propolis Crème is a cream for the skin.

Do they contain allergens?

Forever Bee Propolis contains soy and almonds. And all five products come from the bee: if you are allergic to bee products, please read the section above first.

Why does my honey turn hard?

That is called crystallisation. Light and strong temperature fluctuations cause honey to crystallise. So store your honey in a cool, dry and dark place.

How do I store Royal Jelly and Bee Pollen?

Once opened, in the refrigerator at a maximum of 7 °C. Close the jar properly.
